What is Shaped and Unshaped ADSL

What is Shaped ADSL

On a Shaped ADSL account, priority will be given to more business facilities such as  emails, web browsing, internet banking and everyday type web browser downloads as well as FTP usage. All other internet activity takes lesser priority and will be scheduled if possible when the intenet downloads has subsided. Shaped ADSL is thus used for general business and non specialised intenet activities.

What is Unshaped ADSL

Unshaped ADSL treats all protocols the same. You then have optimal access to the intenet for Skype, VOIP, trading, gaming etc. Unshaped is required for other specilaised activities such as peer-to-peer, P2P applications and video streaming.
